The fact that then Senator Obama engaged in some "politics of grievance" isn't so surprising. There are occasional hints of that kind of sentiment in some of his comments during his presidential run and in his current role as POTUS. The only difference is that the tape from 2007 reveals it more openly. Thus, in a sense, there is nothing new here.
What is disappointing is that it didn't surface until 2012, five years later, and even now the tape is getting relatively little interest from the media. It really is an open secret that the media appears to give President Obama a pass for a lot of things.
People may tiring of hearing this but if a similar kind of tape existed of George W. Bush or Mitt Romney would the media be all over it?
They were all over the "47%" remark by Romney suggesting it revealed some deficiency.
"Politics of grievance" aside, $16 trillion in debt, 8% unemployment, HHS regulations targeting Catholic institutions and ever expanding government are already enough reasons to feel disappointment in the last four years.
